Mrs. Lucy Gill Bevington obituary, Evening Banner, Monday August 25, 1924:

MRS. LUCY BEVINGTON DIED THIS FORENOON. Born in Ohio, Was Three Months Old When Family Moved Wells. Mrs. Lucy Gill Bevington, aged 88 years, one of the last of the pioneers of Jackson township, died at 11 o'clock. this forenoon at her home in Warren. She was stricken with paralysis at 5 o'clock this morning, and rapidly weakened. Mrs. Bevington was born in Highland county, Ohio, January 31, 1836, the daughter of Daniel and Delilah Stroup. She was three months old when her parents and her grandparents, Daniel and Susan Jones, moved to Wells county, and took up grants of land at the Batson bridge. Later they took up residence east of Warren and cleared the land. Indians were their only neighbors at the time. Mrs. Bevington first married William Gill. They lived at Kelso, now known as Majenica, and they kept the toll gate at the plank road and boarded the men who were building the road. To this union two children were born. They are: Miss Elizabeth Gill, at home; and Willard Gill, of Warren. Mr. Gill died and Mrs. Gill married R. L. Bevington. Mr. Bevington died in 1897. Mrs. Bevington was quite active up until the day of her death. On her birthday anniversary this year she wrote reminiscences of the early days of Warren for newspaper publication. She was a member of the First Christian church at Warren. The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in charge of Rev. R. W. Page, of Kimmell, Ind. Burial will be in the Mitchell cemetery.
