South America 2012
In March of 2012, Tom and his wife, along with his sister and brother-in-law, traveled to South America to visit five countries. They flew to Peru first to experience the amazing Machu Picchu. They explored the Sacred Valley, Cuzco, and Lima. They sampled many of the local foods including alpaca and guinea pig. In Chile they went wine tasting in the Colchagua Valley and visited the coastal villages of Vina Del Mar and Valparaiso. They also explored Santiago and Santa Cruz. In Uruguay, after exploring Montevideo, they traveled out of town to a ranch for horseback riding and a BBQ. In Argentina, they experienced Buenos Aires, including the Evita Museum, Cafe Tortoni, and a tango lesson and show. They also did a boat cruise through the Tigre Delta area. They flew inland to see the spectacular Iguassu Falls from both the Argentina side and the Brazilian side. The last stop before returning home was Rio de Janeiro. Here, they took a cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf, enjoyed a Samba show, and visited the famous Christ the Redeemer monument with spectacular views of the city.
