Road Trip January 2008

Masks Tom and his wife loaded up the RV and hit the road in January of 2008. After making two stops to visit family in Bullhead City, Arizona, and Dallas, Texas, they arrived in New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras with a group of other Good Sam Club members for eight days. They had a great time at all the Mardi Gras parades, catching lots of beads and other throws from all the cool floats passing by. They had fun at a masquerade party, a formal Bal Masque, and a Super Bowl party. They ate lots of good food at Brennan's, the Court of the Two Sisters, Cafe Du Monde, and the New Orleans School of Cooking. They explored the French Quarter, cruised the Mississippi on a steamboat, and visited two historic plantation homes. The next destination was Disney World for four days. Unfortunately, they were sick with a flu bug and only made it to Epcot for half a day. They were feeling much better when they arrived in Miami for a five day stay. From here, they visited the Everglades National Park and the Biscayne National Park. They also drove the rental car out to Key West for two days. They visted the Hemingway House, watched the sunset from Mallory Square, and took a seaplane out to Dry Tortugas National Park, a small island about 75 miles from Key West. The next stop was Charleston, South Carolina. Here, they took a carriage ride through the historic district to see all of the cool homes. They also took a boat out to Fort Sumter, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. The last destination before heading home was the Congaree National Park in South Carolina.
