Road Trip 2007
In May of 2007, Tom and his wife hit the road in their RV (photo on right) on a four week journey through Colorado and Utah to visit ten of our national parks. The first stop and one of the highlights of the trip was a tour of Monument Valley with a local Navajo guide. The next stop was Durango and a visit to Mesa Verde National Park. They stopped to see Great Sand Dunes National Park on the way to Denver for Memorial Day weekend. Here, they checked out downtown Denver, the Red Rocks Amphitheater, and Buffalo Bill Cody's museum and grave site. On the way back from visiting Rocky Mountain National Park, they had fun at the music and art festival in Boulder. The next stop was Grand Junction, where they visited three more national parks: Canyonlands, Arches, and Black Canyon of the Gunnison. They visited Capitol Reef National Park on the way to their next base camp in Cedar City, Utah. From here, they visited the following national parks and monuments: Bryce Canyon, Cedar Breaks, Zion, and Great Basin (in Nevada). Their last stop before heading home was in Las Vegas to see the Cirque Du Soleil "Love" show with music by the Beatles.
