Louisa Sosbe Conard obituary, Anderson Herald, 1953 August 9:

Louisa Conard Dies Saturday. Elwood - Mrs. Louisa Conrad, 77, widow of Bert Conrad, 1820 S. M. St., died at her home at 3:15 a.m. Saturday following an illness of several weeks. The body was taken to the Copher and Fesler funeral home where rites will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday by the Rev. Clair Fiscus, paster of the Church of God. Burial will be in Elwood city cemetery. Mrs Conrad was born in Tipton county Dec 11 1875, a daughter of John and Emma Sosbe. In 1894 she married Mr. Conard, who died in 1944. She was affiliated with the Church of God and the Women of the Moose.

Gertrude Newton Dies at Elwood. Elwood - Mrs Gertrude Newton, 85, 1335 South I Street, died at Mercy Hospital this morning at 5:30 after a few days illness. She was born May 18, 1876, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Mr and Mrs John Sosbe. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs Leslie Carroll, Covington, Ohio; Mrs Ernest Schigley, Florida; Mrs Earl Breeze, Tipton, and Mrs Leroy Wells, Elwood; three sons, Charles Hook, Shelbyville, Roy Hook, Wabash; Forrest Hook, Tipton; three stepsons, Roy and Ralph Newton, both of Anderson and Glenn Newton, Alexandria; a sister, Mrs Harry Fore, Poneta; a brother, Thurman Sosbem Rochester; 22 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. The body was taken to the Copher and Fesler Funeral Home where friends will be received after noon Sunday and where services will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m.. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetary in Windfall.

Adam G. Hook obituary, Elwood Call-Leader, Thursday, February 25, 1947:

Adam G. Hook, 72, died at 5:25 o'clock this morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Leroy Wells, 1322 South J. street. Born August 9, 1873 in Bartholomew county, he was the son of Ephriam and Jane Hook. He was married to Gertie Sosbe in December of 1902. He had resided in Elwood for the past 27 years. Survivors include eight children, Mrs. Leslie Carroll of Piqua, Ohio; Mrs. Ernest Shigley of Kokomo; Charles Hook of Fountaintown; Mrs. O. E. McClellan of Pendleton; Roy Hook, Mrs. Earl Breeze and Forrest Hook all of Tipton and Mrs. Leroy Wells at whose home he died, a brother Ed Hook of Elwood, and a half sister, Mrs. Lizzie Hilton of Tropic, Illinois. There were 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The body was removed to the York Memorial Home on Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev V. Hayes Miller will be in charge. Burial will be made in the City cemetery

Allen G. SOSBE, 87, 130 East Fourth street, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Woodlawn hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1888 in Tipton county to John H. and Emma HENSHAW SOSBE. A retired plumber and carpenter, he had resided here 57 years, moving from Windfall. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of World War I Barracks 479. Surviving are two foster daughters, Mrs. Barbara JONES and Mrs. Betty CARR, both of Wabash; and a niece, Mrs. Edith BREEZE, Tipton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home. The Rev. F. G. KUEBLER will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m.Wednesday.
