Letter written to cousin Karen from Charles F. Manser dated 01/04/1982:

I am a descendant of McKimmey Hook who lived in Worchester Co., Maryland. He is shown there on the 1800 and 1810 census. There in 1794 he is listed in the estate papers of Bolitha Hook as being the 'next of kin'. Also in 1796 in the estate papers of a William Hook he is also listed as the 'next of kin'. I have not determined this kinship. McKimmey Hook moved from Maryland to Kentucky between 1810 and 1820. He lived in the Nicholas, Bourbon, and Pendleton Co.'s are of Kentucky. I am not sure that he ever moved as he lived in an area where the county boundaries changed about that time. I have also learned of a brother Belithat who married in Maryland also moved to Kentucky in the same area. Samuel, Matthias (sons of McKimmey) and Belithat moved to Indiana, living in the area of Bartholomew and Howard Counties. Thomas Hook was living in the same area and I am wondering if he might have been a brother to McKimmey and Belitha.

Data received from Bill Carter in 2014:

We are 5th cousins. Our common ancestor is McKimmey Hook, father of your Thomas Hook by his first wife, Margaret Riggin. Thomas is the half brother of my ancestor Martha "Patsy" Hook, daughter of McKimmey by his second wife, Nancy Jane Clavel. Nancy was married three times, the third time to a widower. McKimmey Hook 1773-1825 was the son of Bolitha Hook 1750-1794 and Elizabeth Cropper 1750-1796. Bolitha was the son of Mathias Hooch b. 1722, an immigrant from the Netherlands who was the founder of Hooksville, Pa. Elizabeth Cropper was the daughter of Edmund Cropper.
