From History of Clinton County, Ohio: Its People, Industries, and Institutions:

Thomas and Ann (Covert) Darbyshire, of Pennsylvania, had seven children, John, Thomas, Samuel, Morris, Jessie, Martha and Ann. Thomas Darbyshire was a furniture maker by occupation, who came to Guernsey County, Ohio, and from there immigrated to Wilmington, where he spent the remainder of his life.

Proof of lineage notes:

  • Have not yet found any hard proof linking George Chopson "Jr." to the George Chopson living in Fayette County, PA. Also, have not found proof linking Elizabeth Darbyshire to Thomas Darbyshire. However, both George Chopson (Sr.) and Thomas Darbyshire were living near each other in Menallen Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, in early 1800s. Also, Thomas Darbyshire appears to have moved to Clinton County, Ohio, where George and Elizabeth lived.
  • After finding bio in History of Clinton County (shown below), it appears that Thomas and Ann may not be the parents of my Elizabeth Darbyshire? This record says they had seven children (excluding Elizabeth). However, bible record (see below) mentions 13 children?

Microfilm of typed transcript of original records. "Present owner [1959]: Viola Darbyshire Cline, Washington, C.H., Ohio." Thomas Darbyshire was born in Maryland in 1770. His wife, Anney Covert, was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, in 1784. They had thirteen children, 1801-1827. Their son, Morris C. Darbyshire (1809-188_), and Sarah Anderson (1809 or 1811-1863) were married in 1826. They probably had eight children, 1827-1853. He married 2) Elizabeth McNemar in 18_4. IN Miscellaneous group of Bible [and family] records, 1959-Feb. 1, 1960. leaves 7-8.
